About the course

A 4 day residential recorder course for talented young players (aged 16 – 18), funded by Recorder Courses Lyme, kind donations from RCL course participants and the SRP Walter Bergmann Fund.

The focus will be on technique, as well as high standard ensemble playing, both one to a part and as a whole group. This will be an exciting and unique opportunity for gifted young recorder players to meet, play together and be taught and encouraged by an inspiring and enthusiastic role model.

Students are encouraged to apply directly, with a reference from their teacher.  As well as the standard booking form, please print out and complete the application form, both of which can be downloaded here.  Application formApplication form    Booking formApplication form.

The course will start at 2.30pm on Wednesday 20th and will run until 11.30am on Saturday 23rd February.

Tom Beets

As a member of both established and upcoming performing groups, and as a teacher at venues across the world, Tom Beets is one of the most talented and exciting young recorder players of our time.

Tom is a member of The Flanders Recorder Quartet, widely acknowledged as one of the leading recorder groups in the world. With them he has played all over the world, in some of the most prestigious venues and festivals, including the Miller Theater in New York, the Opera City Hall in Tokyo, and the Orchesterhaus in Salzburg. (see Flanders Recorder Quartet for more information.)

Tom is also a member of Sarada, the young prizewinning ensemble for early renaissance music, whose objective is to bring a fresh interpretation to the music of that time, while respecting its origins.
