Moira Fraser-HookMoira is a recorder player and trained music and special needs teacher. She has also worked as a music therapist. She studied the recorder with Ashley Solomon, leader of the Florilegium consort. Moira lives in Chepstow where she runs a thriving private music teaching practice. She is the leader of the popular Divertimenti recorder consort, which is in much demand for concerts in the local area. She also performs as a soloist and with small chamber groups. Moira is the founder conductor for the Chepstow U3A recorders, which numbers some 34 players, and also runs several other recorder teaching groups. Over the years she has gained a reputation for her natural affinity with pupils and her patient, calm and sympathetic approach to teaching the recorder and piano. |
This course is designed for players who can play all sizes of recorder, from descant to bass, and willing to try great bass and contra (which can be borrowed) and can sight read well, even one to a part. Although we will be playing a mixture of music, the main focus of the course will be baroque music. The objective is to have fun exploring a variety of music in a friendly atmosphere.
The timetable is flexible and will vary according to the needs and wishes of those attending, although there are usually 4 one and a half hour sessions each full day. The early part of each afternoon is free for relaxation, exploring Lyme Regis or informal recorder playing.
The course starts with afternoon tea at 4.00pm on the Friday and finishes with lunch on the Monday.
