Anne-Marie Klein

Currently based in Edinburgh, Annemarie Klein completed her undergraduate music degree at the University of Edinburgh in 2013, and her MA in recorder performance at Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, Belgium, in 2015, where she studied with Bart Coen and Bart Spanhove. Although her academic research has centred around music of the high baroque, she enjoys performing music from the mediaeval to the modern and has recently formed the ensemble Musica Mundana with Eric Thomas (lute & theorbo). She has participated in courses and masterclasses by Philip Thorby, Dorothee Oberlinger, Matthias Maute and Pamela Thorby.

Annemarie believes in sharing her passion for music and the recorder, and loves to work with children and adults of any level, whether individually or in a group. She also translates writings about music and is currently working for Hal Leonard Corporation amongst others.

About the course

The course is aimed at lower intermediate standard players who ideally can play both descant and treble fingering. Players should be able to read music fairly well and have a basic grounding in recorder playing.  The objective is to have fun, exploring recorder technique and a variety of music in a friendly, sympathetic and encouraging atmosphere.

The timetable is flexible and will vary according to the needs and wishes of those attending.  The early part of Saturday and Sunday afternoons are free for relaxation, exploring Lyme Regis or informal recorder playing.

The course will start at 11.00am on Friday 26th October and will finish with lunch on Monday 29th October.  Bed and breakfast is available on Thursday for £20 per person, if you wish to arrive early.

Prices are as follows:

Single occupancy    £400

2 players, sharing    £310 each

Couple sharing, one playing    £515

A £90 deposit is required per person on booking, with the balance to be paid at least one month before the course.
