Bart Spanhove

Bart Spanhove has been principal professor of recorder at the Lemmensinstituut Leuven (Belgium) since 1984. He is also artistic director of the world famous recorder ensemble, the Flanders Recorder Quartet. With them he has produced over 20 CDs, played over 1800 concerts worldwide and given numerous masterclasses and lecture demonstrations.

Bart is co-author of the successful recorder tutor "Easy Going" (Heinrichshofen) and has published "The Finishing Touch of Ensemble Playing" (Alamire), which has been translated into numerous languages. In August 2010 Mieroprint published the results of his 4 year research project, The Recorder Music of Frans Geysen.

Ingrid de WitteIngrid de Witte

Ingrid De Witte received a Master’s Degree in Music specialising in Music Education and Baroque Flute, studying with Frank Theuns at the Luca School of Arts (Lemmensinstituut) of Leuven and with Barthold Kuijken at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels.

As a freelance Baroque Flute player, she has participated in several chamber-music ensembles and baroque orchestras and has also worked with renowned conductors such as Siegiswald Kuijken and Paul Dombrecht.

She now teaches harmony, baroque flute and ensemble-playing at several music schools in Belgium and has a special affinity with French baroque music.

 

About the course

This course is designed for players at and above Diploma level.  Players are expected to be very good sight readers and to be willing and able to play all sizes of recorder down to great bass or contra.  Each day there will be sessions where everyone plays together and also one to a part sessions in smaller groups.

There will also be opportunities for recorder ensemble lessons and individual lessons with Bart.

The timetable is flexible and will vary according to the needs and wishes of those attending, although there are usually 4 one and a half hour sessions each full day.  The early part of each afternoon is free for relaxation, exploring Lyme Regis or informal recorder playing.

The course starts at 4.00pm on the Thursday and runs until 11.30am on the Tuesday.

Single occupancy    £570

2 players, sharing    £455 each

Couple sharing, one playing    £745
